We are looking for volunteers committed and interested in getting experience in the mental-health field, and are dedicated to address barriers regarding mental health. Minimum commitment of at least 6 months.

Trauma Speaks Volunteer

Responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting events hosted by the organization (i.e setting up, handing out materials, etc), assisting members of the committee with tasks and/or projects.

Research Assistant /
​Content Developer

We are looking for research assistants or content developer that can help us conduct literature searches on current mental health-related events (i.e self-care, relationships, mental health resources, etc) and writing a small blog or infographic to be put on our website, social media, or newsletter. Other responsibilities may also include but not limited to active participation in spreading awareness regarding mental health, creating PowerPoint presentations, and attending meetings (phone or online). ​All content must be evidence-based, peer-reviewed data and written in APA format. 

Social Media Handler / Designer

We are currently looking for a social media handler who has experience using Buffer. Responsibilities include the recruitment of volunteers for potential positions as needed, as well as the handling of social media (i.e Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok). You will also be responsible in helping outreach coordinator on doing outreach through social media for potential speakers at events. You will also coordinate with the research assistant in compiling what is heavily needed at the moment and generating these posts once available. The handler will also be responsible in sending and/or posting of the monthly newsletters (MailChimp). Requires participation in meetings (i.e phone or online)

Grant Writer

Responsibilities include compiling requirements for a grant application, completing the written portion of grant applications, collaboration with the grant team and business/financial committee as well as the board of directors for proofreading and editing, in-charge of revisions and maintaining deadlines for grant applications. Maintains records and collaborates with the Chair of the Board on compiling annual reports

Requires participation in meetings (i.e phone or online)

Requirements:
  • Excellent communication skills -- both verbal and written
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Grant writing experience
  • Knowledge of fundraising information sources

Program Developer

We are looking for a project manager who would like to share their expertise to our organization. You will be helping us in developing programs that can support our organization's mission and purpose and help create and manage long-term goals. This may include being in charge of developing budgets and operating plans for programs and writing program funding proposals.

Podcast Handler & Editor

Responsibilities include handling topic suggestion form and doing research for podcast topics, editing the recorded podcast, and publishing it. Other responsibilities may also include but not limited to participation in spreading awareness regarding mental health and/or recruiting other volunteers. Requires attendance and participation in meetings (i.e phone or online)

Event Planner

Responsibilities include organization and management of events such as conceptualizing themes, ideas, planning budgets and preparing invoices, booking venues, acting as a liaison with suppliers, clients, handling/managing logistics of the event, and presenting reports after the event. Requires participation in meetings (i.e phone or online)

  • Gain knowledge about the field as well as expand your knowledge regarding other people's perspectives as well as current trends or research regarding mental health, trauma, etc.

Requirements:
  • Background and/or experience in public relations, management, or related field
  • Experience in project management with record of successful events
  • Creative and outside-the-box thinking
  • Team-leader and be able to delegate tasks effectively
  • Financial savvy
  • Be able to attend 30 mins - 1 hr meetings twice a month and volunteer a minimum of 2hrs/wk
  • Coordinate with executive board, newsletter, social media handler, financial manager, community/outreach manager & marketing specialist
  • Interested in applying skills in a mental-health related field
